Click Wastewater  Litter Runoff  How You Can Help

“That a slice of raw nature exists deep within an urban core seems nothing short of miraculous. Still, decades of neglect and pollution have taken a toll. What I'm trying to do is help rekindle a connection between the community and the river," says Frank Peterson.  "I won't be able to save the North Fork years from now, but the kids who learn about its birds, lizards, and plants will."

There have been many sources of pollution affecting the North Fork in the past and some still exist today.  When water slows down in river, mud and silt can settle out on the bottom and become sediment.  Chemicals can settle out also and mix in with the bottom sediment.  There is also pollution floating in the water and on the banks of the waters.
