Project Completion: Ongoing ![]() ![]() ![]() The District is currently in the process of removing all the non-native and invasive plants along the North Fork of the New River between Sistrunk Blvd. and the Broward County Juvenile Correctional Center. Once these plants are removed, native plants will be re-introduced to the shoreline. This project is expected to improve water flow, reduce the amount of trash and debris captured by the dense, overhanging branches and underbrush of invasive plants, and provide urban habitat for the native plant species and wildlife that were displaced by exotic vegetation.
